Icarus Precision Side-Charging Upper Receiver & 7075-T6 Free Float M-LOK Rail system w/ Titanium Barrel Nut
Shipping Within The Continental United States is included!!
Introducing a new design and superior construction in the AR15 upper receiver assembly market!
We are so proud to introduce and distribute another outstanding new offering from Icarus Precision, LLC, located in our home town of Washougal, WA! This upper receiver and rail system will likely be a trend setter in regards to design, styling, strength and manufacturing abilities.
Initially, we are offering only 12" rails in 7075-T6 with M-LOK provisions to go with the custom machined uppers. Other lengths will become available in 2019 depending on popularity.
There are several requirements we settled on before deciding to design and build this upper receiver system:
- Must Be American Made
- Must Be Constructed From American Made 7075-T6 Aluminum
- Compatible With Mil-Spec and Billet Lower Receivers
- Increased Strength Over ALL Other Current Market Offerings
- Reduced Flex
- Non-Reciprocating Side-Charging Upper
- Must Accept Mil-Spec Style BCG Without Modification To The Carrier or Bolt
- Better Upper Receiver To Rail Flow
- Built-In Anti-Rotation Tab
- Better Than Mil-Spec Tolerances
- Titanium Barrel Nut That Does Not Require Indexing/Timing Or Shims
- Increased Grip Without Requiring The Addition Of Grip Panels
- Beveled And Radiused Edges
This system includes*:
Modified Gibbz Arms Side-Charging Upper Receiver
Icarus Precision 7075-T6 Billet Aluminum Rail
Icarus Precision 2" Long Grade-5 Titanium Barrel Nut
Icarus Precision Laser-Cut 316 Stainless Pinch Plate & Screws
Vibra-Tite VC3 Medium Strength Thread Locker- 2ml Pillow Pack
*Does Not Include Anything Other Than Listed Above
From Icarus Precision-
About the upper receiver:
When discussing the ideas for this project in mid-2018, we agreed that to set us apart, we should use not only a unique looking upper, but it needed to be able to accept even the largest small frame AR15 calibers and it HAD to be side-charging.
Our contacts suggested starting with upper receivers from Gibbz Arms as they will accept standard bolt carrier groups with no modifications, have a unique side-charging design, and their built quality is known to be top notch and withstand just about anything imaginable the end-user can throw at it.
Once the uppers were received, we machined the slot for the rails' anti-rotation tab as well as the groove in the picatinny flat top rail to match our free float rail system.
All of the upper receivers are finished with high temperature CeraKote at the same time as the rail to guarantee a perfect color match.
The .223/5.56 pattern upper works with rimfire up to .50 Beowulf and the 9mm pattern upper works with rimfire rounds, 9mm, 7.62x25, .357 Sig, .40 S&W, 10mm Auto and .45 ACP, just to name a few!
About the rail:
We set out to design and manufacture a rail to fill what we feel are design and strength gaps in the current market.
Our rail is the only one on the market that is entirely made from true solid billet; meaning every rail starts from a solid block of 2.5"x 2.5"x13” 7075-T6 Aluminum bar stock weighing approximately eight pounds and ends up weighing just over ten ounces. The specifications provided below will make it pretty clear which material is superior in every single way to 6061.
The main reason we chose 7075 over 6061 is due to the fact that 7075-T6 aluminum approaches the strength of some mild steels while being much lighter. However 7075 is approx 50-70% more expensive than 6061 and typically more difficult to work with. These reasons are why most companies steer clear and choose to use 6061 instead, increasing their profit margins. We are more concerned with strength, durability, reduction of flex and making sure our clients get top quality products, than we are with profit margins and making the lightest products on the market.
Most every other rail currently offered is made from 6061 extrusions, meaning the aluminum material is pressed through a die to generate 85-98% of the inner and outer profiles as well as the inside and outside diameters, allowing minimal machine work to be a matter of finishing the look and design profile, as well as machining in the M-lok or KeyMod windows and finally some form of clamping system to hold it to the barrel nut.
Contrarily, we machine 100% of the surfaces on our rail. Every face, radius, bore, facet, slot, chamfer and counter bore is cut on our in-house 5 axis CNC machine. Every single M-LOK slot is counter-bored to ensure a lower profile mounting surface and to make absolutely certain the t-nuts don't move during install or removal.
In a nut shell that is the difference between our rails and others on the market. By employing a different manufacturing method and by using a 2” long US-made ans sourced Grade-5 titanium barrel nut, the rail flex is all but eliminated, which is a huge advantage when keeping optics, sights and laser designators at their correct settings and zero.
Barrels must be longer 6.5" or longer to clear the I.D. reduction in the rail, otherwise it will not be possible to attach anything to the muzzle threads.
